In short, Evaco’s customer was migrating their solution from QlikView to Qlik Sense and wanted to take the opportunity to clean their Qlik Solution. The challenge was finding a software that would help make this process both effective and efficient.

Solution: Identifying unstructured data using NodeGraph

Using The Dependency Explorer to their trace data

NodeGraph Dependency Explorer served as a great starting point for the organization in question. Here, they were able to visualize the data and the data lineage within their Qlik Solution, all the way from the data sources to the end-user applications. This allowed them to better understand their solution as well as being able to identify data that wasn’t being used as well as data that wasn’t being used correctly. Using Reports to take stock of their Qlik Solution

They were further able to take stock of their Qlik Solution with the help of NodeGraph’s Reports module. This module made sure that their data was structured according to their guidelines by allowing them to investigate elements such as raw data that wasn’t being used in end-user applications, data that hadn’t been updated in a while, and more. Analyzing the structure of the Qlik Solution using heat maps

A further useful NodeGraph feature proved to be the heat map. These allowed the organization to visualize specific elements in the NodeGraph Dependency Explorer, allowing for further analysis of the Qlik Solution’s structure. Using the heat map, the following elements can be analyzed:

  • Children
  • File size
  • Fields
  • Records
  • Users
  • Last modification
